        • Background: RLBP1 plays a primary role in retinal visual pigment regeneration for both rods and cones in the RPE and sustains M-cone function (including dark adaptation and activity under strong light) in Muller glia, being essential for normal retinal visual cycle and cone photoreceptor function maintenance.
        • Gene editing strategy: An icre/ERT2-tdtomato sequence cassette was placed in the mouse Rlbp1 gene under the control of the Rlbp1 promoter.

        An icre/ERT2-tdtomato sequence cassette was placed in the mouse Rlbp1 gene under the control of the Rlbp1 promoter.

        When B-Rlbp1-iCreERT2-tdtomato mice were crossed with a strain containing a loxP-site flanked sequence of interest, and induced with tamoxifen, Cre-mediated recombination will result in deletion of the floxed sequence in the Müller cells of offspring.
